In Hebrews 11:6 the Word tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. So the implication is that in our prayer with God, we must approach him in an attitude of complete trust that he will not only hear our prayer, but will answer our petition if we have the faith that he can and will answer.
This concept is reinforced in Mark 11:23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him." Again the concept is faith...absolute belief that what we ask will be accomplished.
I know what your thinking, "I try to have faith, yet I still struggle at times with doubt," and I'd have to admit that I have been there. Yet we have Christ's Spirit living within! God has given us the power to live a Christ centered life, including the ability to have faith.
My recommendation. Pray for faith. Ask God to bless you with the spiritual gift of faith. I believe that this is his will and he will bless you with it. A note of caution however...to have faith you need to be put into a position of needing faith. God will grant you faith, but be prepared to "buckle your seat belts." It will be a wild ride.
"Now faith is being SURE of what we hope for, and CERTAIN of what we do not see."
